Breakout Sessions
Social Media Do’s and Don’ts Along the Way
Facilitated by Blair Thurman, Communications Coordinator, Melrose Baptist Church, Roanoke, Virginia
Social media for the church can be overwhelming- Is it advertising? Is it a faith formation tool? Is it just for fun? Well, it can be all those things! This session will work to give a simple outline for churches in how to use social media to meet their goals and continue the Kingdom’s work.
Where is Your Church in their Journey to the Top?
Facilitated by Rev. Skip Wallace, Baptist General Association of Virginia, Waynesboro, Virginia
All organisms and organizations have life cycles, including local churches. Understanding church life cycles can help pastors and other church leaders realize where their church is and how to respond.
Send Out the Search Party!
Facilitated by Rev. Steve Zimmerman, Founder of the Barnabas Partnership, Martinsville, Virginia.
Today’s church is full of seasoned travelers on their Christian journey. For many of us we have forgotten what a person goes through when they are lost without our guide, Jesus. In our session we will go searching for the 24 Laws of Lostology and how it will help us build better caring relationships with those lost souls that need Christ in their lives.
Getting Servants Ready for the Climb
Facilitated by Rev. Keith Dixon, Pastor of Boiling Springs Baptist Church, Shelby, North Carolina and co-author of Nuts and Bolts of Deacon Ministry.
Effective Deacon ministry can be a catalyst for church growth! In this session we will focus on the Biblical role of the Deacon as Servant. We will also examine the call to be a Deacon, the spiritual life of the Deacon and practical ministry practices for the Deacon. Come learn how being a Deacon can be a joy and not a burden.
